theatre
Theatre, what a word, for life is a theatre, a seed head of grass is a theatre, a car parked on a street is a theatre, a ketchup bottle is a theatre. For life is a constant reaction to environment, as the saying goes life is for living, for being part of the theatre. If you open a news paper and look at the pictures, the pictures chosen are chosen precisely because they contain theatre, look at the advertisements; they are chosen because they contain theatre, even a simple clothing ad for lets say Macy’s. The woe is me mentality just doesn’t cut it, the external theatre has nothing to do with the internal, for there are oh so many who’s external theatre is much more “complicated” than many others, and on, and on, and on. Today, the pharmaceutical companies, the governments, wish to create a “one” stage theatre, where the individual stage is made to be one. Today, we have an enormous substance abuse problem with people wishing to escape their theatre. Now, you may not like my theatre but to say theatre in general is for only when I must experience it is, ignorant, an escape. To wish for a blank wall is frightening. What I find interesting in all of this, and have for years is that forms of minimal art in their effort to create a simplified theatre instead create one of great response, of great reaction. For life is reaction after reaction, reaction caused by the action before which immediately changes to reaction from the moment preceding, to give way to the next reaction, there is no getting around this even in a blank wall, for the external theatre really has nothing to do with the internal. What I was saying about this piece is it doesn’t create enough theatre, (how wrong I was), I forgot that even a silent room can’t hide from being a stage.
