Over population in history has lead to barren soils, disease, and war. Why is it the leaders of the world say nothing about controlling the populations of all societies. Is it that 8% economic growth is more important than the future?

Economic growth results in wealth. The rich get richer; the poor, well the poor go hungry and often homeless, resulting in misery and often early death.
Famines and diseases along with present and future wars will reduce population growth and in fact may lead to population decline. What does the future hold?
